Reasearch Assistant in the Robotics & Intelligent Construction Automation Lab (R.I.C.A.L.)
Yihai Fang has been a Ph.D. student in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology since 2011. Prior to joining the Robotics & intelligent Construction Automation Lab (R.I.C.A.L.) in 2014, he spent three years in the Real-time Automated Project Information & Decision System Lab (RAPIDS Lab), working as a research assistant. Yihai received a B.Sc in Civil Engineering from Tongji University in Shanghai, China.
Yihai Fang's research has focused on 1) Automated real-time crane motion capturing and visualization to enhance lifting safety in blind lifts, 2) Pro-active hazard recognition and avoidance using Ultra-wide Band (UWB) location tracking technology, and 3) Construction education and training using Building Information Modeling (BIM) and immersive Virtual Reality (VR) technology.
